The Athabasca Enterprise Region Corporation (AERC) is a not for profit corporation originally incorporated under the laws of Saskatchewan March 04th, 1999 as the Athabasca Economic Development and Training Corporation (AEDTC).

It was agreed by the Working Group assembled to establish the Enterprise Region, the Ministry of First Nations and Métis Relations, and subsequently the AEDTC Board of Directors and membership. Predicated on the past successes of the Athabasca Economic Development and Training Corp, agreement was made for the AEDTC to be transitioned into the new Enterprise Region, rather than create a completely new legal entity.
